S:US Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center
GKV ARCHITECTS is proud to have provided architectural design to S:US, SERVICES FOR THE UNDERSERVED, a non-profit agency that works with communities and individuals in every corner of New York City and on Long Island, providing homes, homeless services, behavioral, veterans, and mental health services. GKV was asked to design the S:US Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center. The center is the first of its kind in New York City, providing support for persons of all ages who are suffering from symptoms from drug addiction. The facility is open 24 hours a day and provides a temporary refuge where persons in need can find support services for themselves, their spouses and their kids. The staff includes both mental health and medical professionals, as well as clerical and maintenance staff. The program includes comfortable rooms where patients under stress are stabilized, living rooms for children and families, therapy rooms, nursing offices, showers, bathrooms, lockers and laundry facilities.
