Silke Rapelius was named a Principal of Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects, DPC in 2017. Prior to joining GKV Architects, Silke was a principal of an architecture firm in Germany, where she developed her leadership ability as well as her distinct design perspective that she brings to every project that she manages. Some of her notable projects include the redevelopment of a 735,000 square foot warehouse in Long Island City, NY, the 5000-seat Coney Island Amphitheater and the repositioning of the Tempo, a 17-story rental residential development. Silke is the recipient of numerous prizes for her design submissions to architecture competitions. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the vice-chair of membership of their NYC Residential Product Council. Silke and her family love traveling and exploring the beauty, architecture, and intrigue of new lands and cultures. Although, after a long journey, there is nothing sweeter than coming home to NYC.
